  ok... lets get the ribbing aside.

  our mormon "miracles" are more unexplainable than yours.... one of the many tools used by the morg to keep it's members active is the use of faith promoting stories involving apparent miracles... or the unexplainable.

  there are unexplainable stories even in my own family.

  happy new year to all :)

  so i'm curious if anyone has further info/dirt on jaracz or any other gb members (former or current).

  i know jaracz was publicly accused of molesting a young girl (now an adult).

  Upcoming Elders Schooling

  it's no secret that the "organization" has increased it's cia, national security clerance only super-secret attitude in regards to the elder school that is going to be conducted soon.

  a few days ago, i had a conversation with an elder who has been in the fold all of his life practically.

  in keeping with the conversation style of jws, the gentleman told me that nobody knows what exactly will be taught at the meetings, but in his backdoor conversations with some brothers who seem to be tuned into the bethel's officially, unofficial, communications network, the elders are going to be taught "post-armageddon" teachings.

  Ah the old "peace and security" "prophecy". When actually reading the scripture it's clear what Paul meant by taking it in to context 1 thess 5 1-3(NIV):

  Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

  Clearly Paul was reinforcing what Jesus said about NO ONE KNOWING THE DAY OR THE HOUR. So by the society spending so much effort and free time worrying about this, they are actually going against what Paul was trying to say.

  By having extra chromosomes wouldn't that some what make you more of a hermaphrodite? I know the company I work for defines transgender as only if the attempt is made to look like the opposite sex. Then again that's for business.

  *Edited*- I doubt many elders or GB members have even considered the whole TG thing. I actually have a female friend that was interested in meeting a t-girl for a relationship, which I always found odd. There is also a post op male to female here at our work who is married. It's hard for a straight liberal guy to understand let alone a closed minded dub. Not saying it bothers me, it just always gets confusing for me.

  I Am Legend JW email

  so my sister-in-law, who is a pretty hardcore jw, showed me an email that looked like it had been passed around quite a bit, so i figured someone on here had probably seen it.

  supposedley it's a picture from the movie "i am legend" where will smith is walking through new york and all the buildings in the background are in ruins except for the bethel building, which stands out, undamaged and clean.

  i watched the movie and don't remember seeing anything like that so i just figured that some jw photoshopped it and sent it out to the jw community to show that the bethel building is protected by god even in a post apocaliptical world run over with zombie vampires.

  I made a post about this before, but felt the need to repost on a very important benefit I am part of. It is called Beards Because. Basically a group of guys have been growing thier beard out for the local battered women's shelter. We are tying to raise 10,000 and have raised 5,000. I have been passing out cards and trying to get the word out but haven't received one single donation! I would really like to say I at least raised SOMETHING. Anyways if you guys could donate even a dollar it would be helpful!

  Probably Transgender, they will say you can supress your homosexual tendancies. For Transgender you have to make an effort to look like the opposite gender. I would think if you were a post-op male to female, you would have to make an effort to be a male again. Which makes things really confusing!

  JW's and Internet. Wikipedia?

  jh posted a thread about how wikipedia clearly shows how goofy the doctrine of jw's has been in changing over the years.

  so it makes me wonder could wikipedia be the driving force in the no "independent" study?

  i know that my whole family uses wikipedia often and use it as a respected source when researching things.

  Yes Void I understand that and the history of it. But I know when I was growing up "independent" study was never touched upon. In my personal case the Elders encouraged young ones to use Encyclopedias and libraries. It seems that with the web being so wide spread now you are having such a large influx of this anti personal research. Because of the whole Wiki edits, and yes I was around for that too, it seemed like it could have started the typical JW/bethel chain of events to get to the GB who probably know little about the internet. It seems like Wiki is being used as "safe" research for a lot of JW's that I know. It is honestly the best "snare" if you want to call it that for open minded JW's. This was all I am implying.

  we found this quiz after reading the book parenting beyond belief and sweetpea and i decided to take the challenge - afterall how difficult can 50 bible questions be for us born and brought up as jw's?.

  our results were enlightening to say the least - we both scored 28/50 - not exactly brilliant although apparently above average.. take the quiz and post your results and comments..
